Yes, I'm a true indecisive Libran!!

To Sell or Not to Sell...That is the question!

I finally came to terms with selling my Jedda, then i couldn't...

So i wrote a blog about the essential and non-essential maintenance and upgrade tasks that needed, or i wanted to do. Published it - then pulled it back to a draft...

Now i'm thinking, i haven't sailing Maggie in about 3 years because i haven't had time to do the maintenance tasks....hmmm...

Just to put this in perspective, it's not a case of no spare time. It's more a case of no large slabs of spare time.  The marina where Maggie lives is a good 30 minute drive from home.  So by the time i pack the gear i need into the car and get to the marina, get the gear to the boat... (ignore actual maintenance / work time) ...pack up again, drive home, unpack the car - that's about 2 hours gone. So doing a half hour task takes 2.5 hrs... That's not efficient use of time!

Due to the layout of our house on the property, even IF i had a roadworthy trailer under Maggie, i still couldn't keep her at home.

So what i'm trying to grapple with now is the idea of a day-sailor type boat which i could store in the garage.  Those of you who've seen my garage are probably rolling on the floor with laughter about now!

I'm thinking day-sailor (that could accommodate 2 adults and 2 kids, but be sailed single handed) over a racing style dinghy or cat as that way we can all sail and stay dry relatively dry.

Something like this...

The Core Sound 17

And the fun part of all this is...drum roll...building it!

Or the Phoenix III...

Or the Islay Skiff...

I do like the look of the cutter rig with the bowsprit.

And i'm just going to continue adding possibilities here so i know where to find them all...

or the slightly larger Pathfinder

I think i have a new favourite...

Of course the build would have to be done in the garage, so there's a definite time lag here, as many other jobs need to be done to get the garage clean enough to even contemplate building a boat in it...

But this has definitely given me something to think about.

hmmm...how complex a build do i want...

These boats tick all the boxes as far as being a day sailor, it will be on a roadworthy trailer - so can go anywhere, it'll be at home so all maintenance / upgrades will be able to be done as necessary.
